Squarespace requires the button image be hosted on Squarespace.

Upload button image to Squarespace PayPal page, copy the image url, paste url into the custom image block in PayPal Create a Button

It is best to size the button appropriately before uploading to Squarespace. It is nearly impossible to change the size later.
